How it all started
Tamla Motown is a record label originally based in Detroit, Michigan USA and was founded by a guy called Berry Gordy Jr in 1959 as Tamla Records. The company was incorporated as Motown Record Corporation in 1960 and went on to have 110 top 10 hits between 1961 and 1971 with artists such as Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Diana Ross & The Supremes, The four Tops and The Jackson 5.
